Committee Description:
The Continuing Education Research Committee (CERC) is an Administrative Governance Council participatory governance committee, existing as a service to Continuing Education in the critical area of institutional research. As such, it has the overall function of creating, reviewing, and assessing the annual research agenda for Continuing Education. The Research Committee supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in assessing and overseeing the four performance areas for research:
- Increasing Professional Development,
- Expanding Course Diversity,
- Enhancing Identity/Image, and
- Growing Enrollments.

- Dean, Institutional Effectiveness
Committee Membership:
The membership shall be an adequate number from Administration, Faculty, and Classified, providing a good cross-section of the institution.
Committee Goals:
- Conduct ongoing review of data;
- Support Administration, Faculty, and Classified in the use of research data to improve programs and decision-making;
- Review and recommend training in the conduct and use of institutional research; and
- Advocate for the establishment of data sources applicable and accessible to Continuing Education Faculty.
Committee Calendar:
The committee meets in the months of October, November, January, February, April, and May. The committee chair may also call virtual or e-meetings as necessary and the committee may vote virtually on any proposal submitted by the various constituencies. Meeting minutes will be posted. Meeting agendas and minutes will be posted on the Continuing Education web page at http://www.sdce.edu/.
Standing Sub-Committees:
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) to assess requests for research involving District Students, District Policy 0400.
